When David approached us from Spain, his requirement was clear: he needed a family-sized permanent residence that didn’t feel like a temporary shelter. The Design Challenge: Maximizing 78m² (839.6 sq. ft.)

As designers and product managers, we didn’t just pick a stock model. We worked closely with David to optimize the Option D-2 layout.

  • The Workflow: We centered the house around a 3.6m (11’10”) wide central living zone to create an open-concept flow that mimics a luxury apartment.
  • Privacy Logic: By placing the three bedrooms at the wings of the expansion, we ensured acoustic privacy for David’s family—a major improvement over standard “budget” layouts.

Engineering for European Compliance

One of the biggest hurdles in shipping modular homes to Europe is the strict CE certification and local building codes.
Our role as David’s Production Manager was to ensure:

  1. Thermal Break Infrastructure: Upgrading to thermal break aluminum windows to prevent condensation in the cooler Spanish winters.
  2. Pre-wired European Grids: Every outlet and circuit breaker was factory-verified for EU voltage and safety standards before the unit was folded for transit.
  3. P-Trap Integration: Avoiding the common “smelly sink” problem by using rigid PVC plumbing that meets international sanitary codes.
